Caring for Redbridge

'Caring for Redbridge' is the strategic commissioning framework for Redbridge Council's People Directorate.

It sets out the Council's vision for supporting Redbridge residents and explains how they plan to support adults and children through social care, wellbeing and lifelong learning services. It also explains their commissioning plans for 2018/19 and beyond.

The enormous task they face is to stretch relatively decreasing resources across a growing population with increasingly complex needs. The budget pressures necessitate them to think differently as to how they deliver their statutory responsibilities and provide support and intervene early and effectively.

The deadline for responses is 2 March 2018.

During the Coronavirus pandemic) care homes had to work incredibly hard to continue to provide a safe and supportive environment to their residents during unprecedented conditions.
In May, we conducted an initial telephone survey speaking with 31 local residential and nursing homes to identify whether they had any concerns caused by the pandemic.

Intermediate Care - Reports

Havering & Redbridge identified that too many people were being admitted to hospital for entirely preventable causes, resulting in an over reliance on institutional (bed based) services as the default option rather than considering individual needs.
The Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Trust (BHRUT) has more rehabilitation/reablement beds than other similar parts of the country, high occupancy and long lengths of stay.
