The Great Weight Debate: A London conversation on childhood obesity

The Healthy London Partnership with support of London councils, NHS and Public Health England, is coordinating ‘The great weight debate’. This initiative aims to make Londoners more aware of childhood obesity, hear ideas for tackling the problem and understand what support there is for creating a healthier living environment.  
 
Two in five of Redbridge’s children are overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school. They are at increased risk of many health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.  Being overweight or obese can also affect a child’s mental well-being, lead to low self-esteem and absence from school.
