We are delighted to announce that we have successfully achieved the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard.

This quality standard demonstrates Healthwatch Redbridge’s commitment to good practice in the way we work with and support our volunteers.  Healthwatch Redbridge had to demonstrate that it could meet criteria covering 9 areas of volunteer management.

The process involved a few months of developing our Volunteer Programme.  We worked with our volunteers on this, gathering their feedback and using it to make relevant changes. Our volunteers also helped by providing feedback on some of our policies. Volunteers were interviewed by the IiV assessor as part of the process. Volunteers felt that: “all the staff are very supportive, they go to a lot of effort to make sure we have what we need” and that they are listened to: “they always listen and take our views on board, even if it’s not something they can change they will come back and explain why”. Another volunteer told the IiV assessor: “I’ve never left the building without a ‘thank you so much’”

There are four main areas IiV covers: planning for volunteer involvement, recruiting volunteers, selecting & matching volunteers and supporting & retaining volunteers. Find out more
