Volunteer Roles Available

Role Description:
Research Assistant Volunteer - Redbridge Sensory Services
(Deadline: Monday 19th November) 

Purpose of Role

To produce a Directory of providers and services who can support people living in Redbridge who have sensory impairments. The Directory will be a Redbridge service, but will include providers and services external to Redbridge but available to residents.

Minimum Time Commitment

The Volunteer will be required to undertake their placement twice a week for 3 hours per session. The times will be agreed with the Redbridge Sensory Team.

Duties of Position

• To research (find suppliers of equipment and training) providers and services that offer support to people with sensory impairments
• To contact (using list provided) partners to provide contacts for the directory
• To collate research into a structured list using Microsoft Word
• To work with the Chair of Redbridge Low Vision Group to obtain support, advice and feedback to ensure that the Directory meets the needs of the community
• To undertake other similar duties and responsibilities after discussion with the Chair/Service Manager.

Other information

The volunteer will be based with the Redbridge Sensory Services Centre in Woodford Green who will provide an induction and support.

Person Specification:

• Research experience, this can be from either work, study or other volunteer roles
• Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Good written and spoken English
• Confident to approach providers by telephone
• Professional telephone manner
• Can work using own initiative

• Report writing skills
• Good organisational skills
