Polio and MMR vaccine catch-up campaign

In north east London we are working to identify and then directly contact the parents of those children who are not up to date and invite them to specific catch up clinics or confirm consent for in-school vaccination where appropriate. Invitation only, half-term community clinics will start on 27 May for school aged children across our boroughs but will continue through the year, with the plan to deliver vaccines through schools, community settings and GP practices (particularly for those aged one to four).
 
UKHSA recently published data showing that measles cases are on the rise in London. The polio catch up campaign last year, which followed the detection of polio in sewage samples, didn’t reach all unvaccinated children. Latest data shows that 76.4% and 76.6% of children have received their full schedule of MMR and polio jabs by the age of five in north east London. These figures are in line with the London average but well below the 95% target set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and uptake is lower in certain ethnic groups and income deciles.

Parents and carers are advised to contact their GP if they are unsure if their child is up to date with these vaccinations.
