Help yourself to cleaner air – Redbridge We Care for Our Air

We all know how bad air pollution can be for our health, so Redbridge Council has been working with local community groups, GP surgeries and schools to launch ‘We Care for Our Air Redbridge’ – a range of initiatives, free activities and learning resources designed to raise awareness and empower local people to help in the battle to improve the air in Redbridge.

Most air pollution comes from car emissions, and although on average levels have thankfully started to come down, there are still many hot spots with levels that exceed safe limits set by the government.

Did you know that there are also many indoor sources of air pollution?

Air pollution affects some people more than others unfortunately, particularly the very young, the elderly and those with existing health conditions, such as asthma and heart disease. Research has found it can even increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and brain conditions, such as dementia and depression.

Go to the We Care for Our Air webpage, to find out where air pollution levels are highest and, to find low pollution routes for your journeys, check out the borough’s new Pollution Routing Widget.

We Care for Our Air are hosting a celebratory event where you can find out more information.
