The Redbridge Respite Care Association - HWR Community Network

The Redbridge Respite Care Association provide respite support to unpaid carers caring for a loved one with Dementia and Mental Health.

Activities include: 

• Monthly peer support groups
• Health and well-being activities
• Day centre/Social club for Dementia
• Community and home based respite
• Sitting service; help with shopping, gardening, attending appointments, support to attend gym, swimming, yoga

Day Centre

Our day centre is for services users who have been diagnosed with Dementia. The centre is small but has a friendly home feeling. We open at 10am for our service users to arrive, upon arrival services users are offered hot drinks as well as a cooked breakfast. After breakfast numerous activities are supplied suiting to everybody’s needs or we go for walks. Around 12.30 a nutritious home cooked lunch is made for everyone, ensuring everyone's dietary needs are met as well as dessert which always goes down a treat. After lunch we may watch a movie, chat, listen to music or even do more activities then all carers or cabs arrive for 3pm to take our service users home. This service is very popular as it gives the carer a much needed and deserved break for 5 hours as well as feeling secure knowing that their loved one is safe and being cared for. Our day centre is open Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 10am-3pm.

Outreach

Our outreach service is for people who have Dementia or Mental Health. We provide a support worker to attend the home the same day and same time each week for 2.5hours. During the visit the support worker can take your loved ones out to local parks, shops, cafes or just for a walk giving you the carer time to yourself for paperwork, housework or even to catch up on your favourite shows. Many support workers may stay in with the service user so that the carer can go out during the visit so they can meet up with friends, go out for lunch or even go shopping.
