If your child is struggling with their mental health, there are a range of different services available in north east London which can help.

How to access Kooth

Kooth is an online service that gives children and young people between 11-19 years immediate access to a community of other children and a team of experienced, accredited counsellors. 

It can provide mental health and wellbeing support to children and young people at the earliest opportunity before a problem escalates.

There are no waiting times, no referrals, and it is completely anonymous. The service is open for support 365 days a year, between 12pm-10pm on weekdays, and 6pm-10pm on weekends and holidays. 

How to access Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

We provide local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – known as CAMHS for short – in every borough in north east London.

These services can provide children and young people with assessment and treatment for a range of emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.

A child may be referred to CAMHS if they are finding it hard to cope with family life, school, or the wider world of teenage life. The types of problems this service can help with include:

  • Violent or angry behaviour
  • Eating difficulties
  • Low self esteem
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive or compulsive behaviour
  • Self-harming
  • Sleep issues
  • The effects of abuse or traumatic events.

You can access these services directly without needing to see your doctor, or you may wish to speak to your doctor first, who can then put you in touch with the right service for you.
