Jewish Care
Jewish Care is the largest health and social care charity serving the UK Jewish community in London and the South-East. Together with our 1,200 staff members, our 3,500 volunteers, and our dedicated Trustees and lay leaders lending their time and expertise, we run ten care homes, three Retirement Living Schemes, ten Community Centres including our Connect@ services, three Dementia Day Centres and many support services and groups, which touch the lives of over 10,000 people every week.
Activities
Day Centres, Centres for people living with dementia, care homes, nursing homes, homes for people with dementia, retirement living, support groups (mostly virtual) for carers, people with MS and their families, Parkinson’s Wellbeing Group, Supportive Community such as tea parties, Chaps that Chat, Social Activities for older people, Kosher meals on wheels, social work, community support work, dedicated family carers support (one to one as well as group work), MIKE youth leadership scheme, Jewish Care Direct helpline and The Jewish Helpline listening service, social events online, befriending, virtual events and talks, support with technology.
- Day Centre currently meets Tuesday and Thursday (will add Mondays shortly)
- Supportive Communities and other activities on Wednesdays (daytime)
- Social Events on Sundays (usually evenings)
- Dennis Centre currently Tuesdays but will be adding additional days
Locations
Jewish Care has hubs in Golders Green, Friern Barnet, Stanmore and will be developing a hub in Redbridge - in the meanwhile, day centre, supportive communities and social activities are held at Woodford Forest Synagogue in South Woodford, and the Dennis Centre daycare for people living with dementia is based at Gants Hill. Vi & John Rubens Care Home (providing residential, nursing and dementia care is also in Gants Hill)
